Crime Fiction Readers! Sorry, I know, it’s been a minute.
Wow – if I actually had a significant crime fiction audience, that being my genre, at least in terms of numbers, because at this stage I consider every single reader significant, anyway, my point is that it’s been too long since my last post. I offer my sincere apologies to anyone who might be bothered or disappointed! I’m actually a little disappointed in myself, and I intend to be more consistent and reliable with this blog. So, here’s to new beginnings!
However, my explanation of why, or what I’ve been up to, that would cause such negligence to this important platform, will make up for it, maybe.
My last post appeared in September 2024, and since then, as a crime fiction author, I have published two more novels. I’ve expanded the Special Agent David Stilley Adventures series by two more; however, get this! Amazon has already banned one of them. KDP, Amazon’s publishing arm, obliterated ON OPPOSITE SIDES.
I received a cold, unambiguous, and final email; they yanked my book and refused to give me a specific explanation for their decision. It’s been almost six weeks now, so the utter knife in the gut pain of it has dissipated. But when you pour yourself into the creation of a 375-page novel, editing, expenses of cover, etc., it truly was a stab in the back! All that I know is that something I did violated ‘community guidelines.’ Readers gave the book solid ratings–40-something 4.6 stars, and probably 8-10 great reviews. But she’s gone from Amazon.
I was initially so upset that I contemplated moving my entire catalog of 5 published works, with a 6th ready, and taking my work what the gazillions of us independent writers call WIDE. Instead of being an exclusive KU author, you publish both e-books and paperbacks with Draft2Digital, and then you can distribute via plenty of outlets. B&N, and so on. Anyway, I’ve decided that despite my anger and frustration with Amazon, the world’s publishing behemoth, I’d be starting from scratch.
Instead, I’ll be re-releasing every single book, all 6. The currently published works will all receive wonderful new covers, new marketing, and fresh edits. I’m rebranding, coming out twice as strong, and I’ll make the banned book available for free on this website shortly via Book funnel.
So, that brief story is only one of the many adventures and experiences I’ve had since my last post. But, I’ll keep bringing you up to date, providing the true and wildly exciting tales of this 68-year-old author, living with his beautiful Hawaiian Princess on the island of Maui, riding his Harley, walking their 3 dogs along the beach, and writing his aging heart out!
