Tony’s Story – August 2026
Shortly after my wife and I received our COVID vaccines, following over one year of lockdown due to immune system concerns, I retired from all of my business entanglements, and we departed Denver in our Ford F-450 dually with our three dogs, towing a massive 45-foot-long fifth wheel. We were on the road for 18 months, traveled over 20,000 miles, and it was one of those ‘once in a lifetime adventures,’ but we had to bring it to an end when my mom needed our help to manage her life. That’s where my story as an Indie Author, self-publishing psychological thriller books, begins! Since April 2022, I’ve published 6 books, comprising 2 series, and my next gripping mystery thriller is coming together, and I expect it will be published in November 2026.
People always ask me, “How do you develop the characters?” “How do you come up with the storylines?” My stock answer is, “I haven’t a clue.” And to a degree, that’s true, in that I don’t have a specific process, some algorithm for any of it. I write organically, and I develop it all as I go. However, I take what I’ve learned about people, both the good and the bad, and I apply it to my characters. The storyline is more the result of an active imagination than anything else.
My life will begin and end with writing. No, no, I’m not about to die. However, I feel that as long as there is life in these fingers, I will continue this roll and keep writing until the bitter end. And I started my life as a young child, actively writing stories and excelling in creative writing. Then, as a teen, my passion for writing morphed into journalism, and I was chosen as the first Editor-In-Chief of the Columbine High School newspaper, The Columbine Courier.
I remember the joy I experienced when I wrote controversial editorials and stories. I also began to explore journalism as a career seriously; however, for various reasons, I could not go to college then. So, I redirected my powers of persuasion to another arena, sales, and marketing. I entered the securities business and, later, the mortgage banking world and had a successful career when you look at it strictly from the financial measure.
There was an emptiness. There needed to be more about the forty-plus years I spent flogging financial instruments that I enjoyed, aside from the paycheck and the opportunity to help people. But in terms of artistic pleasure, my soul stayed on ice for that era.
Finally, basically at the retirement stage, I picked up the pen again, and off I went. I plan to continue to write fiction and perhaps a biography or two – for the rest of my life.
Writing has consumed me after all these years, knowing I had it in me. It’s something that never went away, the passion and, some would say, the natural ability. I begin a new book, and I live in that world. The characters become known to me; some become my friend, and others I dread. It’s a wonderful escape; time will tell whether my writing brings you joy. I certainly hope so.

Eddolls lives on the island paradise of Maui, Hawaii with his wife, Christine, and their two rescue dogs. Between them, they have seven adult children and eight grandkids.
Tony and Chris spent the last two years traveling the nation in an RV, giving voice in support of small-town food banks through the Rolling Help Foundation. They founded this organization in 2019, have traveled over 25,000 miles, and donated over $25,000 to various worthy organizations.
Otherwise, they enjoy traveling to visit their kids and grandkids in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Collingwood, Ontario; Broomfield, CO; Portland, OR; Austin, TX; and Maui, HI. Chris and Tony also enjoy golf and hikes with their dogs. Between them all, they’ve pretty much got North America covered!
