The Elliott Murphy Series – Sneak Peek
I wrote the Elliott Murphy Series over fifteen years ago. I first published CROSSING OVER in 2007 but re-released the novel in 2022. Meanwhile, I began working on THE LINES WE CROSS in early 2021, and it was published in 2022. THE FINAL CROSS was written in four months and published in July last year.
CROSSING OVER is about three very different men: Elliott Murphy – an FBI Special Agent and recovering drunk; Jack Horton – an Insurance Agent who is in a massive mid-life crisis; and Phil Cassavetti – a Mobster who wants the respect of everyone he encounters.
Each of these men has unique struggles and is at a crossroads, so when they all converge, it makes for very tense, entertaining, and ultimately tragic consequences.
I worked hard to make these characters believable and compelling, and most of my readers highlight this aspect of the book as the most interesting.
Getting to know Elliott in this first book is essential before moving on to the second and reading them all in order. Although I’ve had readers tell me that each is worthwhile in their own right, Murphy is passing through different phases in his life with each book.
THE LINES WE CROSS again highlights several unique characters and personalities. This book is more procedural than the first as Murphy and his team search after an international pariah, fentanyl-dealing Teddy Chen, perhaps the largest distributor of that killer substance on the planet.
This tale takes the reader globe-trotting in pursuit of Chen and educates the reader on the intricacies of the FBI tangling with Chinese law enforcement in this day and age of polarized global politics. Yet, it still provides engaging characters, in addition to Murphy, that evoke high emotion in their plight and struggles.
Finally, THE FINAL CROSS takes us into a new phase in Murphy’s life: retirement. Yet, even while traveling the nation with his wife in a massive RV, Murphy manages to encounter a serial killer.
The Elliott Murphy Series was a joy to write. These books are filled with action, tension, romance, and intrigue. My fingers sometimes couldn’t keep up with the stream of consciousness as the story unfolded on my computer. I hope that you’ll join others in appreciating this work and get started with CROSSING OVER on Amazon.
